Who we are and what this policy covers
We provide pdfeditor for Android. This policy explains the information handled by the app, including its document tools, advertising, analytics, notifications and background features. It applies to the release offered in the United States and Canada.
Document viewing and conversion take place on your device. The app also uses online services that receive identifiers, technical information and usage events. Using local document features therefore does not mean that the entire app operates without transmitting data. You do not need to create an account with us to use this release.
Documents and other information on your device
With the access you grant, the app reads supported documents and their names, locations, formats, sizes and dates to build your library, search and sort files, open them, and carry out actions such as renaming, deleting, sharing and PDF conversion. It stores reading history, bookmarks, reading positions, preferences and other app state locally.
Image to PDF reads accessible image records, album names and thumbnails to display your photo library by album, and processes the images you select to create a PDF. It may display all accessible photos, rather than only previously selected photos. Supported audio playback reads the local audio file you open. The app does not record your microphone for audio playback.
Our document tools do not upload your documents, selected photos, scan results or audio contents to our servers for processing. We do not send document contents, file names, file paths or your library search terms as parameters in our advertising or analytics events. Files leave this local workflow when, for example, you choose a sharing or printing destination, use a backup service, or send an attachment to support. Unexpected software failures can also produce diagnostic details, as described below.
Background document monitoring and notifications
The Persistent notification setting is enabled by default. When enabled and file access is available, the app can observe changes to accessible local documents while it is in the background, refresh its on-device index and maintain information about newly found documents. A foreground service supports this ongoing feature and displays a notification with document and tool shortcuts. Document-change monitoring itself does not upload document contents or the local document index.
You can turn this feature off at Settings > Persistent notification. Your choice is saved. Turning it off stops the resident service and its recovery attempts, removes its notification, and disables ongoing document observation while the app is in the background. It does not cancel a scan or file operation that is already running. You can still use and refresh the document library while the app is open. While enabled, the service may try to resume after interruption, app updates or device restart, subject to Android restrictions.
Other notification features are separate. The app can receive remote messages through Firebase Cloud Messaging and create local reminders using notification history, app activity and device events such as connection or charging changes, app installation or update events, and changes in the photo library. These event triggers and reminder counters are handled locally by our notification logic; they do not require uploading your photos or a list of installed apps. SDK data transmission is described in the following sections. Notification text and task titles may be visible on the lock screen, depending on your Android settings.
The Persistent notification setting does not disable other reminders, remote messaging, advertising, analytics or a separate audio or PDF task you started. Android's app notification settings control notification display. Denying notification display does not by itself stop Firebase registration or all background data processing. Where available, audio playback and PDF processing use their own task notifications and stop controls; those services end when the relevant task is stopped, completed or fails.
Information sent to online services
The following information can be collected by the app's integrated service providers, including automatically when the app or a background component starts:
Identifiers and technical information: advertising ID when available, app set ID, app-instance and installation identifiers, messaging tokens, IP address, device model, operating system, app and SDK versions, language, time zone, network type and other device characteristics. Some advertising providers may receive identifiers related to signed-in accounts when their SDK and platform make them available. We do not ask for your account passwords.
Usage and advertising information: app launches and sessions, ad requests, impressions, clicks and other ad interactions, placement and network details, campaign or install-referrer information, and advertising revenue and currency. Advertising revenue describes our ad earnings; it is not a record of a purchase made by you.
Diagnostics: crash reports, stack traces, exception messages, device and app state, logs, performance and reliability measurements. Diagnostic reports can include context from a failure. Avoid sending sensitive documents or credentials when contacting support.
Approximate location: online providers can infer a general location, such as a country or region, from an IP address. This is different from precise GPS location. The current app does not request a precise-location permission for its document features.
Communications: if you email us, we receive your email address and the information and attachments you send. We use these to answer your request and handle support or privacy matters.
Why we use this information
We use local file information to provide the document features you choose. Online services support ad delivery and measurement, installation attribution, product configuration, messaging, reliability analysis and protection against invalid traffic or misuse. Advertising partners may also use identifiers and interactions to personalize advertising, subject to their settings and applicable privacy requirements.
We use AppsFlyer and Google Play install-referrer information to understand whether an installation came from advertising or another source. This information also selects app configuration, including advertising and reminder behavior. In this release, install-source classification also affects whether supported audio playback and PDF processing can continue in the background. The Persistent notification setting is available to all users and has the same default-on and saved-off behavior.
Providers used by this release
The release includes the following providers and advertising integrations. Which advertising networks receive a request can depend on mediation configuration, availability and region. Providers can collect information during initialization as well as ad delivery. Their notices explain their own processing and choices; they do not replace our responsibility for this app.
Google Mobile Ads and AdMob provide ads, measurement and fraud protection. Their SDK processes identifiers, IP addresses, interactions and diagnostics. See the Google Privacy Policy and Google advertising data disclosure.
TradPlus provides ad mediation, exchange and cross-promotion services. The integrated advertising networks include Meta Audience Network, Pangle, Mintegral and Liftoff Monetize, also known as Vungle. These services can process device identifiers and characteristics, IP addresses, approximate location and advertising interactions for ad delivery, measurement, personalization and fraud prevention. See TradPlus, Meta, Pangle regional privacy notices, Mintegral and Liftoff.
AppsFlyer provides installation attribution and marketing measurement. We send advertising events and revenue information to AppsFlyer; its SDK also processes installation, device, network and campaign information. See the AppsFlyer Services Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics for Firebase measures app usage and advertising events. Firebase Crashlytics receives crash and diagnostic information. Firebase Remote Config delivers configuration, and Firebase Cloud Messaging uses installation identifiers and messaging tokens to deliver messages. See Firebase privacy information and Google Privacy Policy.
Google Play services supplies the optional ML Kit document scanner. Google states that scan inputs and results are processed on-device. ML Kit can download components and send device, installation, app, API usage, performance and error metrics to Google. See ML Kit privacy information and ML Kit data disclosure.
Sharing and disclosure
Service providers receive information needed for the purposes above. Advertising partners may act for their own advertising purposes as well as provide services to us. We do not describe all advertising disclosures as being solely to processors acting on our instructions. Advertising measurement may involve campaign partners according to the integrations and data-sharing settings used by the relevant services.
We do not sell your document contents. Disclosure of identifiers, approximate location and advertising interactions to advertising partners may nevertheless constitute a sale, sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, or targeted advertising under applicable US privacy laws, even where no money is paid for the data itself. The rights and request process below apply where those laws cover our processing.
When you choose to share or print a file, the destination you select receives the file and handles it under its own terms. Android backup and device transfer may copy eligible app data through your device or backup provider according to your settings. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect legal rights or security, or in a business transfer subject to applicable safeguards and notice requirements.
Permissions and device controls
All files access lets the app find and manage supported documents across accessible shared storage. Older Android versions use storage permissions. You can deny or revoke file access in Android settings; the file library and tools that depend on it may then be limited. The scanner's camera experience is provided by Google Play services. You choose whether to open that scanner and which images to import.
Notification permission controls the display of notifications on supported Android versions. Foreground-service, wake-lock and restart capabilities support the background behavior described above. Network access supports advertising, attribution, analytics, configuration, messaging and scanner component downloads. These capabilities do not grant us ownership of your files or permission to use document contents for advertising.
Retention and deletion
Local history, bookmarks and preferences remain until you remove the relevant records, clear app storage or uninstall, subject to device backup and restore. Temporary working files can remain until the app or Android cleans them up. PDFs and other files saved in shared storage can remain after uninstalling and must be deleted separately if you no longer want them. Removing a local item does not remove a copy already sent to someone else or stored in a backup.
For information we receive, retention depends on the purpose: support correspondence is kept as needed to resolve the issue and related disputes; privacy-request records may be kept to document compliance; operational, advertising and diagnostic records are retained for the measurement, security and troubleshooting purposes described above, subject to configured retention periods and legal requirements. We delete or de-identify information under our control when these purposes no longer require it, except where continued retention is legally required.
Provider storage follows the service and account settings as well as applicable deletion requirements. For example, Google describes a 90-day retention period for Crashlytics crash data and associated identifiers before removal begins. AppsFlyer describes an end-user-data limit of 24 months unless a customer directs otherwise or law requires or permits otherwise. These are provider-specific rules, not a promise that all app-related data is deleted on one schedule. See the provider notices above for their retention information.
Clearing app storage, deleting an advertising ID or uninstalling does not automatically delete information already received by online providers. You can request deletion of information associated with your use of the app through available privacy-request channels. We may need information sufficient to locate the relevant records, and applicable law may permit limited retention for security, compliance or legal claims. There is no app account to delete in this release.
Your choices and privacy requests
You can revoke file permissions, turn off Persistent notification, manage Android notification and lock-screen settings, avoid optional scanning or sharing, delete local files, and manage device backup. Android advertising controls may let you reset or delete the advertising ID and change available ad-privacy settings; menu names depend on the device. Those controls do not necessarily stop other identifiers, analytics or contextual advertisements.
The current app does not provide a single in-app switch that disables all advertising, attribution, analytics and crash reporting. The Persistent notification switch is not an advertising or analytics consent control. The Android app does not currently interpret browser Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals; a browser setting does not automatically carry over to this app. This does not restrict rights provided by applicable law.
State that your request concerns pdfeditor and describe whether you want access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, or an advertising opt-out. For a sale, sharing or targeted-advertising opt-out, you may use the subject "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information". You do not need to create an account or send the contents of your documents. We may ask for limited information to locate your app installation or, where appropriate, verify a request. We do not require identity verification merely to exercise an opt-out right where the law prohibits it.
We will assess and respond to requests under applicable law and explain any lawful limitation. Where a provider processes information for us, we will use the applicable provider process to address requests. Providers acting independently also offer their own request channels. A privacy request does not necessarily change device or SDK settings immediately; technical controls and the request process have different effects.
United States privacy rights
Depending on your state and whether its law applies, you may have rights to know or access personal information, obtain a portable copy, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, opt out of sale or sharing and targeted advertising, and limit certain uses of sensitive information. You may also have rights concerning profiling used for legally significant decisions. We use install-source classification for app configuration; we do not use it to make credit, employment, housing or similar eligibility decisions.
The categories, sources, purposes and recipients of information are described above. California residents whose information is covered by the CCPA have the applicable rights described here, including freedom from unlawful discrimination for exercising them. Where permitted, an authorized agent may act for you, subject to appropriate authority checks. If you want to appeal a request decision where an appeal right applies, use available privacy-request channels to request an appeal. You may also contact your state privacy regulator or attorney general. Nothing in this policy waives a mandatory privacy right.
Canada privacy rights
Subject to applicable federal and provincial law, you may request access to your personal information, challenge its accuracy and request correction, ask about our practices, and withdraw consent where processing depends on consent. Withdrawal may affect a feature that requires the information; we will explain relevant consequences. Acceptance of our terms does not replace consent required by privacy law.
You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the relevant provincial authority, including the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, as applicable. Rights such as obtaining a portable copy or requesting cessation of dissemination or de-indexing apply where the relevant law provides them and the conditions are met.
Children
pdfeditor is a general document utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through our online services without legally required authorization. If you believe that a child has provided information through the app, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate steps, including deletion where required. Additional consent and advertising restrictions for minors may apply under state or provincial law. A store content rating does not itself establish privacy consent.
Security and international processing
The app uses Android's access controls for local data. The providers above describe safeguards such as encryption in transit for their online services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Protect your device and consider what information you include in files, support messages and sharing destinations.
Our providers may process information outside your state, province or country, including in the United States and other countries where they operate. Those countries may have different privacy laws, and information may be accessible to their courts or public authorities under local law. Transfers remain subject to applicable legal requirements; a provider's overseas location does not remove our responsibilities.
Changes and contact
We will update the effective date when this policy changes. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law, and we will obtain additional consent where required before new processing begins. Publishing revised wording does not by itself create consent.
